My Utmost for His Highest

Last night I was reading Oswald Chambers and he confirmed something I have thought for a long time. He said:

"If we are in fellowship and oneness with God and recognize that He is taking us into His purposes, then we will no longer strive to find out what His purposes are. As we grow in the Christian life, it becomes simpler to us........A Christian is someone who trusts in the knowledge and the wisdom of God, not in his own abilities. If we have a purpose of our own, it destroys the simplicity and calm, relaxed pace which should be characteristic of the children of God."


I think this is an important lesson for today's crazy times. Personally, I am retired and this is not a tall order for me. But I remember what I was like, a working single Mom and keeping up with my daughter. I was exhausted at the end of a shift (I was an RN working in the OR). I ran and did heavy lifting all day. I loved my job, but my daughter suffered for it. And of course so did I. Maybe we all should look at what our lifestyles are, in the light of this idea. What does the pace of your day feel like? How do your kids feel about the pace they live? Have you too much on your plate to maintain healthy, simple, relationships? What are your time priorities? Mine have changed so much in recent years. I hope yours will change before retirement. I've done a lot of back peddling since then and I regret the way I handled my God-given time when I was younger..... a thought for the times we live in.

Sparkle

Did you know the name of the dog pictured on the cvnews page? Well, that is Sparkle, my 2 1/2 lb chauhuahua.
She's 4 years old, a registered purebred. Actually, she belongs to my daughter, however she lives with me and my daughter's cat. They are great company, and they never don't love me. It's great? Kind of like our Father, but not as good.
By way of introduction, I'm a retired Reg. Nurse, now volunteering 3 days a week in the admin. office. I love it. I love the people I work with. The work? Well, it's different from preparing an OR for the next patient. A bit simpler I'd say. But it gives me lots of time to have fun, to work on Bible study homework, read, surf the net, and on and on. I've learned a lot of computer skills I never had and I have some idea of what's going on around here most of the time.
It's different to see our church from the inside out. I am not a visionary so for me it's about the people. It's been interesting to see the changes over the years. I've essentially been here since late in Lorraine Cheshire's time in admin. With all that time I'm amazed at how few of you I know. Stop in sometime and say hi. I'd love to meet you,
